I made this last night for our Bunco group.
If you're looking for something rich and tasty, this is the one!
CHOCOLATE ICE BOX PIE
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 sticks margarine
1 cup pecans, finely chopped
Mix and pat into bottom of 9 x 13 baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
Let cool completely.
2 cups powdered sugar
2 (8 ounces each) cream cheese
1 large Cool Whip (12 oz.)
Mix sugar and cream cheese until creamy. Fold in Cool Whip and refrigerate until set on first
layer.
2 packages instant chocolate pudding and pie filling
3 cups cold milk
Mix and spread over 2nd layer and chill until set.
Top with Cool Whip (8 oz.)

thanks, sj. i can't wait to bite into that scrumpdiddlyupmtious again. so how much time are we talkin here re: lettin the layers set?
I've made it before without letting the layers set, but I guess it just works better if you allow a little time. Maybe thirty minutes each layer? It's a good dessert to make when you've got a whole day dedicated to doing things around the house.
I have made something similar to this before but without the cream cheese layer. (just crust, puddin' and whipped cream). But cream cheese always takes things up to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL. Sounds divine... must try it. PS - I always shave some dark chocolate on the top and it looks so very pretty!
